Property owner Paul Hernandez got the Lamesa City Council’s okay Tuesday in his second attempt in a month to have his property on Akron Ave. re-zoned from residential to industrial. That was not the case at the council’s Aug. 4 meeting when they voted 4-3 against Hernandez’ zoning request after a public hearing brought out residents objecting to the plan. This time around, the council still voted 4-3, but in favor of Hernandez’ proposal. They took the vote after conducting another public hearing which did not bring out the residents. “I really want to know why it was rejected last time,” Hernandez said.
