Lamesa City Council members are conducting a special meeting this Friday at 5:30 p.m. Friday in city hall at 601 S. 1st Street. The council will canvass the votes from last Saturday’s general election before declaring the winners of the race. Morgan Vermillion defeated Joey Rivas, 73-35, in a race for Brant Stewart’s District 1 seat on the city council. Stewart did not seek re-election. Council members are expected to go into executive session to discuss personne matters. They could reconvene into open session to consider taking action from the closed door meeting.
