Gloria Villalobos Rodriguez is expected to officially be declared elected to the Lamesa City Council this coming Tuesday during the council’s regular January meeting. Rodriguez was the only person to file as a candidate for the District 3 council position which became vacant with the death of council member Luciano Reyes in late October. A Feb. 27 election to fill the vacant seat had been scheduled but the council on Tuesday is slated to formally cancel that event and declare Villalobos elected without opposition.
