Lamesa’s city council Tuesday night approved a Declaration of Disaster caused by the COVID-19 Coronavirus outbreak. This follows earlier action by the city and council taking steps to prepare, respond to and mitigate the spread of the virus in Lamesa and Dawson County. While a declaration of disaster by a city can continue for no more than seven days from the declaration (March 17), the council will meet Monday to consider a like resolution to extend the terms of the declaration as long as city officials feel necessary.
