A day after Lamesa City Council members began the process of filling a vacant seat on the seven member board, one potential candidate picked up a form for a place on the ballot for the Feb. 27, 2021 election. Council members on Nov. 24 called for a special election to fill the empty District 3 seat. That seat had been occupied by Luciano Reyes, who died Oct. 31. Reyes was elected to office last May.
