COVID-19 apparently is scarier than Halloween. The recent spike in COVID-19 cases here and across the area has prompted the Lamesa Area Chamber of Commerce to cancel the big Trunk or Treat event and related activities that were planned here this weekend. Chamber President Karen Mize made the announcement on Tuesday. “I am sorry but due to circumstances beyond our control caused by increasing COVID-19 numbers, all contests and Trunk or Treat that were scheduled for Saturday around the downtown square have been canceled,” Mize said in an email to Press-Reporter.
