Dawson County residents are responding to the 2020Census better than those of most surrounding counties. Even at that, however, the local response rate is well below the state and national rates. According to information from the U.S. Census Bureau, 49.2 percent of households in Dawson County have self-responded to the Census either online, by mail, or by phone. The national response rate is 62.7 percent and the Texas rate is 57.7 percent.
