County receives over $276,000 for housing inmates for others SNYDER – Housing out-of-county inmates was the gift that kept on giving for Scurry County in 2018. During their final meeting of the year, county commissioners approved $11,320 in payments from Tom Green and Borden counties for housing overflow inmates. Scurry County has contracted with several counties, including Ector, Tom Green and Taylor, to house inmates in case those jails exceed state-mandated capacity levels.
