Recoveries from the COVID-19 virus are outpacing new cases in Dawson County as the second round of cases here moves into its fifth week. The South Plains Public Health District was reporting on its website Wednesday morning that Dawson County now has 23 active cases of COVID-19. That is down from 34 active cases just last Friday and well below the peak of 38 active cases reported here on July 20, after the second round of cases hit the area.
