The Friends of Movieland fund drive raised more money than in previous years and with fewer attendees, theater board secretary Carmen Furlow said. The drive culminated on Monday evening with movie showings and a catered meal for those who donated $25 or more for the theater. Furlow said Movieland has enough funds to proceed with the improvements the board of directors had planned. She added that the board members are “tickled” by the drive’s results.
