Lamesa’s public pool is closed, but it can’t be blamed on Saturday’s storm. The pool had closed due to a blown-out water pump before the storm came to town. “It’s been closed since last week; ever since the motor went out,” said Interim City Manager Wayne Chapman. City officials purchased a new $14,000 pump shortly before opening the pool earlier this month for the summer season. The pump ceased functioning within about two weeks of its installation.
