Hannah deeply loved her husband, but was childless. This weighed so terribly upon her, that she could not eat and was visibly distraught. So much so her husband said, “Am I not more to you than ten sons?” (1 Samuel 1:8). Eventually she went to her place of worship where “she was deeply distressed and prayed to the Lord and wept bitterly.” (1 Sam. 1:10) In her desperate prayer for a baby boy she cried out to God and made a promise. If He would provide her a child Hannah stated, “I will give him to the Lord all the days of his life.” (1 Sam. 1:11). God did grant her request, and nine months later little Samuel was born, who grew up to become one of the greatest leaders in the history of Israel.

April was a busy month for tornadoes across the United States with 373 recorded, bringing the total for the year to 549, the Austin American-Statesman reported. That is nearly double the average at this point in the year, the National Weather Service says.

O ur cat, Felix, has a new home. We adopted Felix in Mexico while we were staying there. The woman who fostered him, Marcela, thought he was a kitten because he was so small—except for his tail, which appears to be intended for a much larger cat.

What is a woman? According to Merriam-Webster a woman is “an adult female person.” Then Webster defines female as one “having a gender identity that is opposite of a male.” How about a man? Dictionary. com says a man is “an adult male human being,” while giving male a complicated definition saying it is “having or relating to a gender identity that corresponds to a complex, variable set of social and cultural roles, traits, and behaviors assigned to people of the sex that typically produces sperm cells.”

The growth of industrialscale users of power could strain the Texas power grid, ERCOT’s chief announced last week. The Dallas Morning News reported Pablo Vegas, the agency’s CEO, said bitcoin miners and artificial intelligence data centers going in across the state, as well as industrial growth in the Permian Basin, could create the need for a massive buildup of power transmission lines in the future.
