Dear Editor,Igrew up in Lamesa and graduated from Lamesa High School in 1964. I receive and read the Lamesa Press-Reporter to keep up with my hometown. An article in the Oct. 23, 2022 issue gave me concern which I felt compelled to share. The article announced that School Resource Officers (SROs) are being assigned AR-15s. This additional security seems appropriate. However, Police Lt. Eddie Rocha added that the rifles will be left in a school safe while the SROs are on duty.
