In loving memory of our dear Sam Edwards Stevens, who passed away at the age of 95 on April 12, 2024, and embarked on a new journey to meet our Lord and Savior.
Sam was a devoted husband to Latane Baird Stevens for 68 joyful years.
Born on April 24, 1928, in Mineral Wells, Texas, Sam’s life was a tapestry of cherished memories and remarkable experiences. He navigated through various schools before proudly graduating from Lamesa High School. Following his graduation, he answered the call to serve his country and honorably served in the Army. Upon his return, he dedicated his time and skills to his father’s blacksmith business, a testament to his
strong work ethic and commitment to family.
Sam’s entrepreneurship spirit led him to establish his manufacturing business, “Sam Stevens Inc,” a venture that reflected his passion for innovation and craftsmanship.
Alongside his beloved wife Latane, Sam found joy and excitement in their shared love for thoroughbred racehorses, a passion that brought them immense happiness for many wonderful years.
Those who knew Sam will always cherish his vibrant personality, often accompanied by his signature shade of blue that he fondly referred to as “Sam Stevens BLUE.”
His favorite phrase, “by golly,” echoed his exuberance for life and his genuine, down-to-earth nature that endeared him to all who crossed his path.
As we say good bye to Sam, we celebrate a life well-lived, filled with love, laughter, and unwavering dedication to his family and passions. May his memory continue to inspire us to embrace each day with joy and kindness, just as he did.
