Ruben Trevino Jr.

    Ruben Trevino Jr., 62, of Lamesa went home to be with his Lord and Savior Sunday, December 3, 2023. He was surrounded by his family as he went peacefully and with a smile on his face.
    Arrangements are under the direction of Branon Funeral Home. Memorial service was held December 14, 2023 @ 2:00pm at his home church Lamesa Christian Fellowship.
    Ruben was born January 1, 1961, in Lamesa, Texas to Ruben Trevino Sr. and Angie, aka Anita Castillo Trevino. He married Sandy Cuellar on May 15, 1993, in Lamesa, Texas. They had been married for 30 years.
    Ruben was a loving, hardworking provider for his family. He was a wonderful husband, dad and as Autumn would call him, “Papaw.” He was also a great-grand father. Ruben served as an elder, head deacon and had a servant’s heart. He enjoyed participating in the bell choir. Ruben also had the honor to and loved sharing the word of God with youth, co-workers, brothers, and sisters in Christ and family.
    The youth though, carried a very special place in his heart. He was especially thankful that his daughter Kaylee was one of those youths. While she called him dad, some of the youth called him, “Uncle Ruben.” He enjoyed fishing and was a jack of all trades . Ruben worked as a truck driver for Winkles for some years, with the C.B. handle, Teenager. After getting married, to be home every day with his family, he went to work for the Woodrum Oil Company. He later worked for loT, Key Energy, WadeCo, X-Chem and Imperative in the oil field industry. He also hauled cotton seed and cotton bails for some years.
    Ruben also attended the Covenant Treasure School of Ministry. On May 12, 2007, he received a certificate of diploma, as he fulfilled the requirements of the two-year course.
    Ruben’s favorite quote was, “I’m blessed and highly favored!”
    Ruben is survived by his wife, Sandy C. Trevino. His children, Rebecca Sanchez; of Lamesa, Robert (Tre)Trevino and Michelle Rios; of O’Donnell, Randy Trevino, and his wife Sue Ellen of Midland, Anthony Carden and his wife Stephanie; of Lamesa, Steven Carden and his wife Kristen; of Lamesa, Kaylee Trevino and Angel Villagrana of Lamesa. His sisters Stella Rodriguez and husband, Ralph of Artesia, New Mexico; Liz Humphreys of Lamesa; and Deanna Salazar and husband, Ray of Lamesa. He is preceded in death by his parents; daughter Rita Marie Trevino; brothers, Randy Trevino and Rick Trevino; sister Elvia Perez; and his great nephew, Jae Casarez.
