Jose (Joe) Hilario Valerio, Jr.

    A Catholic funeral mass of Christian burial will be celebrated for Jose (Joe) Hilario Valerio, Jr. age 63
of Lamesa, TX., at 10:00 a.m., Wednesday, November 15, 2023, at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church with Fr. Chacko Thadathil officiating. Burial committal will follow to the Dawson County Cemetery. Funeral arrangements are under the care and direction of Gonzales Funeral Home.
    The viewing will be held on Monday, November 13, 2023, from 1:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m., and Tuesday, November 14, 2023, from 9:00 a.m. until 9:00 p.m. with Rosary prayer services at 7:00 p.m.
at Gonzales Funeral Home Chapel.
    Jose passed away at his home surrounded by his loving family on Saturday, November 11, 2023, in Lamesa, TX. He was born on July 4, 1960, in Big Spring, TX. Jose married Guadalupe Banuelos on July 2, 1983, in Lamesa, TX.
    Jose was preceded in death by his father, Jose Hilario Valerio, Sr., and his mother, Margaret Chavez;
his two sisters, Adelaida Molina, and Leonora Valerio.
Jose enjoyed playing cards with family. His entire world was his wife, daughters, and grandchildren.
    Joe was a farmhand most of his life. Joe loved drinking coffee, even on days of 100-degree weather. 
    Jose is survived by his wife, Guadalupe Valerio of Lamesa, TX.; his daughter, Lidya Reyes and husband, Javier Reyes, and his daughter, Rosalinda Garcia, all of Lamesa, TX.; his grandchildren, Griselda Garcia, Francisco Reyes, Maria Reyes, Jose A. Garcia, Miguel Angel Reyes, Margaret Garcia, all of Lamesa, TX.; his brothers, Miguel Angel Valerio of Omaha, Nebraska, and Roy Valerio of Odessa, TX.; his sister,
Rosalinda Lujan of Odessa, TX.; numerous relatives and friends.
