Front Page - Published on: August 18, 2012

The Annual Dawson County Farm Tour and Agriculture Appreciation Day is scheduled this Thursday.

All local farmers and Ag producers who plan to participate in the Farm Tour are asked to call the Dawson County AgriLife Extension Office, 872-3444, by Wednesday.

Organizers need to know in advance how many will be eating the catered meal from Lost Texan Café. The meal will be served at 12 noon. During the meal time, demonstration cooperatives and door prize drawings will be announced.

With registration opening at 8:30 a.m. Thursday, participants are invited for coffee and donuts – provided by the Mesa Underground Water Conservation District – at the Forrest Park Community Center, South 8th Street and Houston Avenue, in Lamesa.

The actual tour will begin from there at 9 a.m.

Points of interest on the tour will be the research at the AG-CARES Farm presented by Dr. Wayne Keeling, System-Agronomy-Weed Science; Dr. Terry Wheeler, Research Plant Pathology; Dr. Jason Woodward, Extension Plant Pathologist - Cotton and Peanuts; Dr. Jim Bordovsky, Research Ag Engineer; Dr. Mark Kelley, AgriLife Extension Cotton Specialist; Dr. Carole Kelly, Research Cotton Breeder; Tommy Doederlein, IPM Agent-Dawson and Lynn counties; Dr. Calvin Trostle, Agronomist; and Gary Roschetzky, Dawson County Extension Agent - Agriculture.
