Charges of DWI, sexual assault land two in prisonFront Page - Published on: August 18, 2012 Repeated instances of driving while intoxicated and the sexual assault of a young girl have landed two Lamesa men lengthy stays in the state prison system.
Separate cases against the two men were among a number of felony criminal cases handled in 106th District Court here on Wednesday.
Manuel Caudillo Ramos, age 63, was sentenced to serve 25 years in prison after he pleaded guilty to a charge of driving while intoxicated with two or more prior convictions for the same type offense.
He was given credit for 180 days already spent in custody, and was ordered to pay a $1,000 fine.
The charge against Ramos claimed he had been convicted of driving while intoxicated at least four times before doing so again here in December of last year.
That latest charge, according to police reports, came after Ramos was involved in a minor accident at a local convenience store.
