Rome was not built in a day but, following Friday night’s first scrimmage against a Lubbock Roosevelt ball club picked to make the playoffs, new Golden Tornado head football coach David Ritchey definitely can see that the building blocks are there.
As expected, the Golden Tors looked better as this first tune-up test at Golden Tor Stadium progressed.
“We looked a little jittery there at the beginning, but we pretty much planned on that, too,” Ritchey said. “We definitely looked better there toward the end than we did there in the beginning.
“But, we should look even better when we come out again next week.”

Friday’s scrimmage got off to a late start after a handful of lightning delays.
