Youth Home Run Derby set here on July 4th

A Youth Home Run Derby will be held as part of the Independence Day Celebration planned here on Wednesday.

Open to youth from age five through 15, the home run derby will be held at the Men’s Softball League field in Forrest Park. Competition will be held from 11:30 a.m. to 8:30 p.m. with five different age divisions scheduled.

Registration will begin at 10:30 a.m. and continue up to the start of competition for each age group. There will be a $10 entry fee for each contestant.

Those age divisions and competition times will be:

* 11:30 a.m. until 1 p.m. – five and six year olds (off the tee);

* 1 to 3 p.m. – seven and eight year olds;

* 3 to 5 p.m. – nine and ten year olds;

* 5 to 7 p.m. – 11 and 12 year olds; and

* 7 to 8:30 p.m. – 13, 14 and 15 year olds.
