Fire department responds to possible house fires

News - Published on: June 23, 2012

The Lamesa Fire Department responded to two reports of possible house fires this past week, but neither fire was very serious.

An electrical cord was blamed for a small fire reported at 7:15 p.m. Wednesday in a residence at 1507 South 2nd Street.

When firefighters arrived there was smoke visible from the south side of the structure and a small fire, according to the report at the fire department.

Firefighters extinguished the blaze and ventilated the house. They remained at the scene for about 40 minutes.

Fifteen firefighters and two trucks responded to that alarm

A report at 4:29 p.m. Friday of the smell of smoke and a possible house fire turned out to be a small grass fire in the backyard of a residence at 1313 North 4th Street, according to the fire department report.
