School board may name interim superintendentFront Page - Published on: June 20, 2012 Lamesa school board members could name an interim superintendent during their regular meeting this week.
The monthly meeting has been moved from its normal Tuesday date to Thursday just for that possibility, according to board President Tracy Harris.
Current Lamesa Superintendent Scott Davis is expected to be hired Wednesday as the new superintendent of the Rusk ISD in East Texas.
Named in late May as the lone finalist for that position, Davis has announced he will resign here when his new position at Rusk is finalized.
Following a 21-day waiting period after naming a finalist, as required by state law, Rusk board members scheduled a special meeting at noon Wednesday with “employment of superintendent” as the lead item on the agenda.
In a special meeting last week Lamesa school board members interviewed several candidates to possibly serve as interim superintendent here. Among them were three men, all currently retired, who previously served as superintendent in various West Texas school districts.
