Lamesa rookie baseball all-stars win first of four tournamentsSports - Published on: June 20, 2012 Lamesa’s Cal Ripken rookie baseball all-stars have ahead of them a full month of tournament action.
If their next three tournaments are anything like their first one, this group should be a fun one to watch in the weeks ahead.
A tough start did not keep this rookie all-star squad from winning its first of four tournaments last weekend at Brownfield.
Lamesa’s rookie all-stars lost their first game in that tournament – a 9-8 heartbreaker to Seminole.
They fought their way back into title contention by first beating Sundown, 22-0, and then Denver City, 12-10, in two other games on Saturday before play ended up getting stopped due to lightning.
Lamesa’s rookie baseball all-stars finished up play in that tournament Monday night back at Brownfield. A 16-9 victory over Brownfield put Lamesa’s rookie all-stars into that tournament’s championship game, where they had a re-match against that Seminole squad that beat them in their first game of that tournament.
