Funeral services for Louis Lytle Davis, 92, of Lamesa, will be held on Tuesday, June 19, 2012, at 2:00 p.m., at First Presbyterian Church in Lamesa with Matthew Thompson and Robert Davis officiating.

Burial will follow in Lamesa Memorial Park under the direction of Branon Funeral Home.

Visitation will be held on Monday, June 18, 2012, from 6:00 to 7:00 p.m., at Branon Funeral Home.

Louis passed away on Saturday June 16, 2012 in Lamesa.

He was born on September 12, 1919 in Hot Springs, South Dakota to Zachary Taylor Davis Sr. and Fannie Louise (Smith) Davis. He married Patsy Thigpen on April 10, 1949 in Lamesa. They were married for 63 years.

Louis served in the United States Army for four years during World War II. He was a long-time member at First Presbyterian Church, having served as Treasurer and an Elder. Louis owned and operated Davis Furniture and Hardware Company for many years and established a family museum, which resides in a portion of the business.

He modeled the Gospel daily, if not in word in deed. He was always seen wearing his trademark suit and tie. He had a servant’s heart and a gift of giving. He was a devoted husband and father.    

He is survived by his wife, Patsy Davis of Lamesa; children, Zachary Forest Davis of Virginia, David Louis Davis and wife, Barbara, of Lubbock, Robert Lee Davis and wife, Rebecca, of Lamesa and Debra Ann Davis of Lamesa; 10 grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

Louis is preceded in death by his parents; two brothers; and two sisters.
