Playoff teams to face off in reunion baseball game

Jul 28, 2010 Players from Lamesa High School’s last two baseball playoff teams will face off here Friday night, beginning at 7:30 p.m., at Joe Spikes Field for a reunion game that originally was scheduled as part of the Golden Tor Jubilee activities earlier this month.
Heavy rains the week of the Jubilee saw that game get postponed, although the players did get together on July 2 for a practice run at the old Lobo Park.
“We were hoping to have had this game played back then,” said Chris Arredondo, who along with his brother, Adrian, have been the driving force behind this reunion match up, “but due to the weather we had to have different plans.”
Chris was a member of the 2000 Golden Tor baseball team, which has been the last year that the Tor baseball squad has reached the playoffs, while Adrian was a member of Lamesa High School’s 1995 Class 4A state runners-up baseball team.
Teammates of both Chris and Adrian will square off with them this Friday in a good-natured reunion match up to see which team can claim the bragging rights as “the best.”
“With all of the time and work it has taken to put this on,” Chris said, “we’re looking forward to getting another chance at getting this game played off.”
