All-Star baseball team is eliminated at tournament

Lamesa’s Cal Ripken 12- and under All-Star team went down fighting at the Regional Tournament held in Crossette, Ark. last weekend.

The team was 0-4 in tournament play.

“It was tough, but it was a good experience for this team. I’m proud of the way they played,” said team manager David Derington.

The team lost its first game to Ozark, Ark., 4-2, on Friday.

The Hamburg, Ark. team won the second game, 25-0, against Lamesa on Saturday morning.

“We were a little outmatched,” Derington said of the Hamburg game. “They had a real good pitcher.”
