Two Klondike FFA students placed among the top 10 finishers in their events in state competition at the recent Texas FFA convention in Corpus Christi.
Taylor Howard, who will be a freshman at Klondike this coming year, placed sixth in Junior Prepared Public Speaking.
Jayci Cave, who will be a senior at KHS, placed eighth in the Soil Stewardship Prepared Public Speaking competition.
Both had qualified for the state contest by placing either first or second in their events during district and area competition earlier this year.
In Junior Prepared Public Speaking, each contestant writes and delivers a four- to six-minute speech about a current agricultural subject of their choice. Participants are then rated based on the written manuscript, speech delivery, and their answers to judges’ questions.
Howard’s speech was about water conservation techniques.
