County health insurance premiums will increase

Jul 28, 2010 Monthly premiums for the health insurance of county employees will increase by at least $43 in the coming fiscal year, according to information given at Tuesday’s meeting of the Dawson County Commissioners Court.
Commissioners approved the renewal of the county’s health insurance contract with the Texas Association of Counties.
County Treasurer Julie Frizzell said the rates of premiums for the insurance coverage will go up, effective on Oct. 1. She said the cost for the employee only will increase from $552.46 to $595.54; employee plus children will increase from $854.48 to $921.12; employee and spouse will increase from $1,159.80 to $1,250.26; and employee and family will increase from $1,433.18 to $1,544.96.
Frizzell also pointed out that the county will receive a renewal credit of $67,856, or $5,654.57 per month, for renewing the policy with TAC.
