| Dawson County Attorney Steve Payson (left) and Craigan Woods are shown carrying limbs away from a large, old tree that is being removed from the north lawn of the Dawson County Courthouse. The tree had to be removed because it had become diseased and its falling limbs were considered a hazard to the public. Payson, who volunteered to cut down the tree in order to save the county money, started the project last Saturday. He and some helpers worked at cutting down the branches of the tree and hauling them off to the city landfill on Monday and Tuesday evenings. The stump of tree is visible in the background.
