Two people were arrested here early Wednesday morning, during a routine traffic stop, after it was determined that the vehicle had been stolen out of Lubbock, according to Lamesa Chief of Police Dale E. Alwan Sr.
Officers with the Lamesa Police Department made a traffic stop on a vehicle in the 800 block of SE 8th Street about 1 a.m. Wednesday, Chief Alwan said. The vehicle was occupied by two males and one female.

After confirmation from the Lubbock Police Department on the stolen vehicle, Chief Alwan said, the driver, Justin Guadalupe Villegas, 29, of Lubbock, was arrested and charged with unauthorized use of a motor vehicle.
A passenger in the vehicle, Eddie Villegas Ortega, 32, also was arrested and charged with possession of a controlled substance penalty group 1 less than 1 gram, Chief Alwan said, after Ortega allegedly was found to be in possession of methamphetamine.
Both Villegas and Ortega were booked into Dawson County Jail.
The other passenger, Irene Sigala, 40, of Lubbock, was released without incident, Chief Alwan said.
The vehicle was processed by officers and impounded, Chief Alwan said, and will be held until the Lubbock Police Department has notified its owner.
